On Saturday June 21st from 11am until 3pm the NICC held the annual Bob Jass Chevy picnic. The weather cooperated wonderfully this year providing us with clear skies, a light breeze, and temperatures in the 80’s.
As always, Bob Jass and his crew were very hospitable to the club clearing rows of new 2014 Chevy trucks out of the way so we could line up our old Chevelle’s in the front rows facing Rt. 47 in downtown Elburn, Illinois. The dealership provided a BBQ grill along with hamburgers and hot dogs which were grilled to perfection by our own Vice President Dennis Grondin who looked very dapper in his apron. There were chips, cookies, brownies and plenty of drinks to go with the sandwiches also. To top it off I am pretty sure I saw a few members wandering up the street for ice cream treats at Alice’s Ice Cream.
We had twenty cars show up with about 30 people and were able to see some faces we hadn’t seen in a while and meet some new people who are planning on joining the club. The group would have been even larger but there were a number of members that advised of conflicts with weddings they had to attend this year. After 4 hours of eating, storytelling, laughing, and looking over cars we went our separate ways and made it home before the storms came in around 5pm. Yes, we planned it that way!!!
If you didn’t make this event, we missed you. Watch the upcoming events and make it to the next club function because there is a lot of summer yet to come.
